James Pickard, Son of Elizabeth Pickard & Joseph Harvey.
Baptized 24th July 1825 in Bideford Union Poor House.
James can be found at the age of 16, a farm worker at Burford Nr Clovelly in the 1841 census and again in the 1851 census.
By this time he has married Ann Pennington from Woolfardisworthy (married 10th Feb 1849 at Bideford Reg Office)and had their first son John 15 months old.
Now at some point over the next ten years they all move to Forrabury, Boscastle in Cornwall and the family has grown somewhat.
We now have John, Moses, Anne, Mary and Richard though sadly Richard died age 2 weeks of Pneumonia on the 1st of April 1861.
We find James again in 1871 still in Forrabury though his family has grown even larger. Though the children in the 1861 Census have left home and he has another 4 children to bring up. James, Susanna, Ruth and Richard. (Richard being my G/Granddad)
